Otherworldly
Craters of the Moon National Park is an otherworldly terrain that boasts archaic cinder cones, caves and other volcanic fragments. Smoke from the raging wildfires of the west settled in the Idahoan fields, creating an eerie haze in the atmosphere.
Earth’s moon is covered in volcanic material, making Craters of the Moon an integral part of science research. In 1969, NASA astronauts first visited the park in preparation for collecting geological specimens on a future trip to the moon.
